EastEnders fans have been left gobsmacked after hearing Steve McFadden’s stunning singing voice.
The soap legend is best known for playing Phil Mitchell – making his debut in 1990. As the former bad guy and womaniser, Phil has become one of the show’s most iconic and longest-serving characters.
Phil is also famous for having a string of romances with various residents of Albert Square, situated in the fictional East London borough, Walford. Not to mention the countless big storylines he has been involved with.

From murder to affairs, Phil’s time in Walford has not been short of drama. Just recently, he discovered he was the father of Albie, Sharon Watts’ child.
But it turns out, actor Steve is not just able to show off his acting chops, as he actually has some impressive pipes too. Online, fans have recently discovered he actually has a music career past.
One viewer shared a snap of the late soap legend Barbara Windsor’s 1999 album. But it was the track listing that got plenty of people talking.
Straight away, fans spotted a duet with Steve McFadden. The on-screen mother and son performed a rendition of You’ve Got A Friend.
And it didn’t take long for viewers to listen to the track and share their thoughts. One person said: “Duet with Steve McFadden written so aggressively is making me laugh.”
A second penned: “Duet with Steve McFadden?? I need to hear this.” A third wrote: “The way I ran to Spotify to see if this is there. This hasn’t disappointed.” Another chimed in and proclaimed: “DUET WITH STEVE MCFADDEN.”
Steve first appeared as the cockney icon in February 1990. He was soon followed by his family, prompting the beginning of the Mitchell’s reign on Albert Square
The legendary family dominated EastEnders throughout the 90s’ and in 2001, Phil became the central character in a Who Dunnit storyline, with the ‘Who Shot Phil’ culprit reveal-episode raking in 22 million viewers.
He took a 15-month break from the soap 2003, with Phil heading on the run after breaking out of prison to avoid serving time for an armed robbery he was framed for.
The BBC star returned in 2005 and – in characteristically hard-man style – he said a few words about his comeback. “I can’t wait to get back to EastEnders and settle a few scores,” he said.
