Eminem fans convinced kids film predicted rapper’s comeback track

Animated films and TV series have a history of eerily predicting future events, with The Simpsons being a prime example. However, this time it’s another franchise that has sparked online speculation.

Fans of Eminem have taken to social media to share snippets from the film Sing 2, claiming it foresaw the return of their favourite rapper.

The film, which features singing animals and stars Taron Egerton and Scarlett Johansson, was released in 2021 as a follow-up to Sing (2016). It tells the tale of Buster Moon, a koala who pitches a musical to reclusive rock star lion Clay Calloway and will stop at nothing to secure him for the cast.

Fans claim the prediction was spotted in the audition scene of Sing 2

During the audition process, various animal groups are seen vying for a spot, where fans noticed something strikingly similar to Eminem’s new track.

In a clip shared online by a woman named Rebecca Reilly, three chicks can be seen poking their heads out of chimneys rapping ‘My Name is (Slim Shady)’, a song the rapper released back in 1999.

However, the group is buzzed off and the scene transitions to an audition of monkey magicians performing a magic trick with dynamite to a sample of Abracadabra by American rock group Steve Miller Band (1982). This track is also sampled in Eminem’s ‘Houdini’, which was released on May 31, 2024.

The tune kicks off with the lines: “Guess who’s back, back again? Shady’s back, tell a friend.”

But when it hits the chorus, Eminem belts out “abra-abracadabra” in a way that’s uncannily similar to the Sing Audition Melody. This spooky coincidence has fans buzzing with theories that the flick somehow foresaw Eminem’s return – or maybe the rap god is just a massive fan of Sing.

TikTok has been set ablaze with chatter about the video, which has already racked up over 2,600 likes, as users flood the comments with banter suggesting the rapper must have had a soft spot for the animated hit.

Rebecca chimed in with: “Sing 2 predicted Eminem’s come back hahahaha.” Another user quipped: “He must of loved that film, tbh I did too when I watched it with my kids.” A third added: “This scene is 20:24 min into the movie.”
