Emmerdale’s Alexander Lincoln has bagged a new role on a rival show – and things are taking a cheeky turn.
The actor portrayed Jamie Tate on the ITV soap – making his debut back in 2019. As the son of icon Kim Tate, Jamie became a firm-favourite with viewers and Alexander even bagged a nomination for best villain at the Inside Soap Awards in 2021.
He also played a part in several big storylines on the soap including faking his own death. But in 2021, he left the famous Yorkshire village – leaving fans gutted.

However, Alexander has recently returned to the world of soap by appearing in BBC’s Doctors. He has taken on the role of Joel Tanner in the Birmingham-based soap.
And it’s fair to say his character is somewhat of a cheeky one. What’s more, the soap Doctors, which has sadly been axed and will be finishing this year, could even be hinting at a potential ‘throuple’ storyline.
Joel rocked up to the famous Letherbridge town in January looking for a place to stay. He ended up coming across Emma Reid (Dido Miles) who has an Airbnb.
However, Emma is in Australia so soap regular and her lodger Luca McIntyre (Ross McLaren) had to greet Joel when he arrived at the house. But it wasn’t a waste of a night as the pair soon ended up locking lips and bonking.
A few days later, Joel returned to Letherbridge – but Luca was out on a call. Instead, his pal Maria Jaziri (Laila Zaidi) was holding down the fort for a few days.
It soon became clear though that she had caught Joel’s eye too – and vice versa. The pair shared a bottle of wine later on in the evening and got to know each other more.
Maria, who is bisexual, told Joel that she and Luca have been pals for years – and the pair even romped once. Intrigued, Joel told her: “I’m all for sexual fluidity.”
She replied with a glint in her eye: “I’ll drink to that.” And then things took another cheeky turn when the pair ended up romping in the evening.
Later on in the week, Maria and Joel continued to spend time together. She even accompanied him to visit flats in the area – advising him on which property to go for.

In the evening, Joel opened up more to Maria. Talking about his two mums, he said: “They raised me to be free-thinking. So I have no concept of the social norms people expect. The big M’s: mortgages, marriages, monogamy.”
Maria replied while smiling: “Life is to be enjoyed.” Joel said: “I see that in you. And in Luca. I feel like I’ve stumbled across a couple of kindred spirits. You’re so relaxed and open. Well… it’s refreshing.”
The following day, Luca was back in Letherbridge while Maria had to leave for a few days for work. Luca and Joel soon picked up things where they left off and even romped on the kitchen table.
