First Dates’ Fred Sirieix admits ’embarrassing’ reason he signed up for Strictly

First Dates’ Fred Sirieix has dished out the juicy details on his cheeky twirl on BBC’s Strictly.

He spilled in his memoir, Seriously British, about an “embarrassing” little secret that pushed him onto the dance floor.

The renowned 52-year-old French charmer recounted his nerves ahead of his appearance on the show’s Christmas special back in 2021, admitting: “I’m confident and comfortable with myself but I’m not immune to embarrassment. I was frightened about going on Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special in 2021.”

Baring his fears, Fred confessed: “I was scared of not being able to dance and petrified of making a fool of myself, especially because I knew my kids would be watching. But I’ve learned that delivering something that you didn’t know you could do is what gives you confidence. The more you put yourself out there, the better you feel.”

But it turns out, the decision to strut his stuff was all about facing his fears head-on: “So I said yes when the producers of the show invited me to come on precisely because I was scared. I took it as a sign for me to rise to the challenge.”

And when it comes to feeling snug in his own skin, Fred’s got no qualms, sharing: “I’ve grown up comfortable in my skin and, if anything, that’s actually improved with age,” reports the Express.

The TV star also explained just how he embraces his confident self, revealing: “How does that manifest itself? I sometimes just take my clothes off. It happens a lot at home or when I want to wind Gordon [Ramsay] up. It’s so easy to wind him up, it’s practically a hobby.”
