Gary Barlow has ignored all talk about his “giant son” in a new radio interview.
The Take That singer, 53, joined Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden on her Heart Breakfast show, together with former TV personality Jason King, known as JK. Chatting with the pair on Monday (November 11), the star was all smiles as he came on to speak about his newest TV project.
In his latest TV foray, Gary takes on the task of learning about the production of wine. This sees him take a trip to South Africa, a wine hub and see how each level of production takes place – much to his delight.

Looking back on his experience of filming, Gary admitted that at the first, the project was nearly shelved. “Do you know what, it was a really hard sell!” he explained.
“And also, the interview was in London, and the back of the queue was in Edinburgh – it was a big queue to be a presenter on this show!” he added. “But listen everyone, I’ve done it for you all. I’ve been to South Africa and made this TV show. I’ve got to say, it’s the most fun I’ve ever had.”
Former X Factor judge Gary went on to celebrate the beauty of South Africa’s wine making regions, and added that while the purpose of the show was to present how it is to make wine, he learned a lot more. “The people who make and work in these vineyards, and they specialise in the food, they’re just gorgeous,” he gushed.
However, as the conversation went on, neither JK nor Amanda pressed Gary on his recent popularity, after a photo of his son went viral for his height. It came when last Tuesday (November 5), social media users were left stunned at a snap of Gary and his family, with son Daniel towering over him.
Uploading the snap to his social media channels, the Relight My Fire singer commended his son for his newest career achievements. However, while fans were quick to share in the good news for his 24-year-old son, attention soon turned to the “giant” elephant in the room.
Since then, a number of other well-known faces have come out with their own tall sons. Among these was legendary nineties comic Tommy Ball, who shared a snap of him and his doting son Luke, standing at a huge 6ft6, begging to be allowed into the “tall son’s club”.
Gary himself has stayed silent on the matter, as he tries to keep his family out of the spotlight for their privacy. However, Gary’s three children have all opted to take a different path from his musical career.
Speaking in an interview with the Mirror, Gary said of his kids: “The two oldest ones, Daniel and Emily, have kind of gone into medicine and physiology – studying strength and conditioning. And my youngest one, Daisy, I’m not too sure what she’s heading for but again, she’s very studious… unlike me and my wife.
“I don’t think they will follow in my music footsteps but I wouldn’t have discouraged them though if they did want to, it’s been a good business for me,” he added. “Every day I still enjoy what I do and when you realise you’re making a living from it, it’s a great, great place to be.”
