George Michael’s eye-watering daily earnings from beyond the grave exposed

George Michael made a staggering £55,000 per day from beyond the grave in 2023.

The singer died aged 53 on Christmas Day in 2016, but that hasn’t stopped him from raking in the cash. The Wham hitmaker’s company Nobby’s Hobbies Holding Limited Account filed their accounts on Monday (January 8), with latest figures revealing it made a £20million pre-tax profit on a £23.8million turnover.

Earnings made in 12 months ending in March 2023 saw the company gross a whopping £20.6million in publishing income, £2.5million in record royalties and an additional £600,000. The Sun reported that the late star’s company made a gross turnover of £23,777,223 in 2023 – nearly £2million more than the £21,942,692 made in 2022.

The staggering earnings came before Wham! landed number one in the charts with the hit single Last Christmas. The 1984 favourite, written by George, hit number one for the first time in 2023, 39 years after its initial release.

After Last Christmas finally made it to number one, bandmember Andrew Ridgley claimed George would be “beside himself” to know that they had hit the top spot. Andrew, 60, said that he and George – whom he nicknamed Yog – had measured the band’s success in chart positions, explaining their “disappointment” when it stalled at number two the year it was released.

“George would be beside himself after all of these years to finally obtain,” he told Official Charts. “Yog and I perceived music largely in the sense of the Official Charts. We always contextualised our success by our chart success.

“It was a huge disappointment to us both when it didn’t reach No1 because in our opinion, it was nailed on. Had it not been for Band Aid’s Do They Know It’s Christmas? it probably would have been No1.”

Andrew added: “It’ll mean a lot to Wham!’s legacy, it’s the crowning glory. Last Christmas was conceived as a Christmas No1. Lofty ambitions, but Yog set lofty ambitions for himself as a songwriter.”

In June, documentary WHAM! was released on Netflix to mark the duo’s 40th anniversary. The film featured primarily rare archive footage and audio interviews by the pop duo.
