Good Morning Britain host announces ‘breaking news’ as ITV show halted on air

Good Morning Britain was halted to make way for some breaking news.

Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley hosted Good Morning Britain on Monday (November 18) but Ranvir Singh was on hand to deliver the latest news. And during the ITV show, she broke news of an energy price hike in the studio.

A “breaking news” banner flashed up on the screen as Ranvir told viewers they could expect a surge in energy prices in January, reports the Mirror. She said: “Homes can expect a mid-winter energy price hike, forecasted to jump by one percent in January.

“The energy analysts Cornwall Insights said that it expects Ofgem to reveal on Friday that the typical household energy bill will rise to £1736 per year from New Year’s Day. It previously predicted a one percent fall and has blamed supply concerns for a volatile market.”

Ranvir added: “That’s it for me now. You are up to date. For more news from where you live, head to the ITV and STV websites and click on your local area. Now, here’s the weather where you are.”

Good Morning Britain was also covering the Windsor Castle estate theft. Two masked men reportedly scaled a six-foot fence to steal farm vehicles during the evening as Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their children slept in their nearby home.

There has also been a lot of talk about I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!, which made its return to ITV last night. Danny Jones has become favourite to win the ITV show after he found himself in a new Bushtucker challenge.

However, things took a bad turn for the popstar when a snake climbed up his shorts and nestled in a rather unfortunate place, leaving hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly in hysterics. In their first challenge, the campmates managed to get five out of 10 stars, with GK Barry tearful as she found out she would be taking on the next trial after being voted by the public following her terror in the initial challenge.

Richard and Susanna also interviewed singer Jason Derulo in the studio, chatting about his hundreds of millions of followers on social media. He also revealed that his young son decided whether to release his different music.

Ranvir usually shared the news segments with Kate Garraway, Charlotte Hawkins and Sean Fletcher amongst others. Susanna and Richard were back to front the show and usually do so Mondays through Wednesdays.
