Disgraced film boss Harvey Weinstein has been rushed to hospital after contracting double pneumonia and Covid.
The convicted sex offender and former film producer, 72, is at the Bellevue Hospital Prison Ward to receive treatment for a “myriad” of health conditions. These include diabetes, high blood pressure and spinal stenosis.
Weinstein is awaiting a retrial for sexual assault charges in New York. In March 2020 he was handed 23 years in prison after being found guilty of third-degree rape and a first-degree sex assault, but in April this was overturned as the New York Court of Appeals ruled that he didn’t receive a fair trial.

However, he was also sentenced to 16 years in prison back in February for another second rapeand sex assault conviction in Los Angeles.
Juda Engelmayer, Weinstein’s spokesman, said in a statement: “Craig Rothfeld, Mr. Weinstein’s authorised representative and prison consultant, confirms that Mr. Weinstein has been brought back to the Bellevue Hospital Prison Ward so that he can be treated for the myriad of health conditions that he is still afflicted with on a daily basis such as diabetes, high blood pressure, spinal stenosis, fluid on his heart and lungs, and various other conditions.
“In addition, Mr. Weinstein tested positive for COVID and contracted double pneumonia in his lungs.”
It concluded: “We continue to express our gratitude to the officers, doctors and nurses at DOCS, CHS, and NYC H+H who saw to it that Mr. Weinstein was immediately transferred to the Bellevue Hospital Prison Ward and will continue working hand in hand with them to ensure Mr. Weinstein receives proper medical treatment.”
He was previously transferred to the hospital in April as he’d complained of chest pains.Hespent nine days at the facility, where he had access to a phone and TV, before being sent back to prison on Rikers Island.
