Hidden footage of iconic comic Tommy Cooper to be aired for first time ever decades on

Footage of Tommy Cooper on US TV is set to be shown here for the first time.

The clips will be broadcast as part of a documentary to mark the 40th anniversary of the legendary comic’s death.

Tommy Cooper: The Lost Tapes will feature his appearance on The David Frost Show in New York in 1969. It will also include his turn on a TV special in 1967.

An insider said: “This is a big moment for fans of Tommy Cooper because these clips have never before been aired on British TV.

“As you’d expect, his performances are top notch, so it’s going to have everyone giggling.”

The documentary will feature interviews with stars who worked with Tommy, famous for his fez and catchphrase, ‘Just like that!’

Dame Sheila Hancock and Jimmy Tarbuck are among stars taking part.

There will also be chats with famous fans including broadcaster Sir Trevor McDonald and the comedian Zoe Lyons.

Our insider added: “There is no shortage of stars who loved working with Tommy.

“Four decades after his death, he is still beloved by so many.”

The special will air on December 30, at 9pm on Channel 5.
