Film fans are “traumatised” after realising the “heavy” meaning behind one iconic horror.
Over in the Netflix Bangers group on Facebook, one film fan wrote: “This is one of the most disturbing and stupid movies ever made. Obviously you will be traumatised after watching this,” and down in the comment section, viewers were divided over their reviews.
One wrote: “Yes it was disturbing and nonsensical, it was stupid. One and done movie for me,” while someone else added: “DEFINITELY INTENDED TO TRAUMATISE.” Someone else chimed in and said that the flick is “amazing,” but others weren’t so impressed.

“I understand the metaphors and still hated it. Awful movie. And I love [Jennifer] Lawrence & Javier Bardem. Worst movie ever,” scathed one unimpressed viewer. Some people even revealed that the film has a much deeper meaning than many may realise.
One comment read: “It was actual[ly[ good. Once I found it it was based on areas of the bible it made sense but it is a heavy impact watch,” while another gushed: “Actually one of my all time favourite movies. The meaning behind it is incredible.”
Still, some couldn’t get over the plot and claimed that despite finding out the metaphors they confessed Mother! “just isn’t for them” and made for a “very unsettling end”. Mother! is a psychological horror film by Darren Aronofsky, starring Lawrence and Bardem alongside Ed Harris, Michelle Pfeiffer and Kristen Wiig.
IMDb’s description of the movie reads: “A couple’s relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil.” The plot is inspired by the Bible and Lawrence has spoken about the underlying themes in interviews, stating that her character is a metaphor for the earth.
In an interview, the Hunger Games actress said that Mother! “depicts the rape and torment of Mother Earth,” who she “represents”. Javier “represents the form of a God, a creator,” while Pfeiffer is Eve and Harris is Adam.
Aronofsky revealed that the decision to use an exclamation point in the title is to “reflect the spirit of the film,” which concludes with “a big exclamation point”.
