Iconic anime Sailor Moon hitting UK in live-action stage show debut as sell-out expected

The UK is about to get hit with a dose of Moon Prism Power as Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon The Super Live, the global 2.5D musical sensation, has announced its London premiere for 2025.

Based on Naoko Takeuchi’s blockbuster manga, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon – launched in 1991 and a total bestseller with more than 46million copies snatched off shelves globally and translated into 17 plus languages – is more than ready to take the West End by storm after conquering hearts worldwide as an anime and live-action TV series, airing across more than 40 nations.

Originating in Japan, the term “2.5 Dimensional Musicals” defines an innovative theatre genre, springing from beloved pop-culture staples including manga, anime, and video games, propelling these realms from the page and screento dynamic stage life – thus coined the 2.5D experience.

The visually stunning show, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon The Super Live, is directed by Kaori Miura, with choreography by Satomi Toma and music by Go Sakabe and KYOHEI. It follows the adventures of Usagi Tsukino, a teenage girl who transforms into the heroic Sailor Moon.

Alongside her fellow Sailor Guardians, she battles dark forces to protect Earth. The production combines action, heartfelt moments, and iconic music, bringing the manga characters to life on stage in an epic live show that promises to captivate audiences night after night.

This newly staged version features an all-female cast including Yui Yokoyama, Yui Oikawa, Marisa Yasukawa, Rii Tachibana, Yu Nakanishi, Mayu Tsuyuzume, Shiho Ota, norip, Miki Furusawa, Yuri Hirano, YOU, Mayu Omoshita, and Sufa. At its heart, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon is about strong girlfriends banding together to fight for what they believe in.

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon The Super Live took Tokyo by storm in August 2018 and continued to captivate audiences across the globe. After wowing Paris in its European debut in November 2018, it conquered the US with sold-out shows in Washington DC and New York in March 2019, attracting fans from more than 40 states. Its stellar success has since dazzled crowds in Taiwan.
