Idris Elba has taken a sidestep from acting to take on a new challenge.
The actor, 51, is known for his roles in Luther and Hijack, but now seems set for a career U-turn. Elba was spotting spinning the decks at a private party on the Spanish island of Ibiza.
In a clip shared by alcohol brand Grey Goose, the Avengers star was seen launching his track – a summer beachside banger called Pushing On. In the video, Idris takes fans behind the scenes as he shows off the writing, production and inspiration behind the song.

He then goes on to play the track for the first time at an exclusive pool party on the Balearic island, basking in the summer sun. As he revels in the Mediterranean spirit, Idris can be seen DJing and playing the track to a star-studded event held at the highest point on the island.

Speaking about the track itself, Elba said that the overall feel of the song was the main priority for him. “Vibrations, rhythm, music, melody… all of these things are an emotion for me,” he explained.
“I have to imagine what I want the song to do, and I get inspired by things that sound like that. Everyone speaks different languages, are different ages, different generations but as soon as you play music, it’s just one frequency.”
Grey Goose, who collaborated with Idris to make the film, has now opted to use the track in its summer ad campaign. The vodka brand added that the song will be a part of “the soundtrack to parties across Europe this summer”.

It comes after Idris’ acting career continues to reach new, dizzying heights. The BAFTA-nominated actor is currently gearing up for release of his latest film, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 – where he plays Knuckles the Echidna.
Elba has continued to work hard in his latest films, including working with Hollywood legend Kate Winslet. However, in an interview with Graham Norton, Winslet admitted that Idris requested one thing during a particularly raunchy scene they were filming for their movie The Mountains Between Us.

As Idris had never filmed a sex scene before, he admitted to his co-star he was nervous about the shots being caught. However, he insisted that Kate keep her socks on during the filming, due to Idris’ revelation of having “a foot thing”.
However, Elba was quick to shut down speculation of a potential foot fetish, adding that he did not want to see Kate’s “hobbit feet” whilst filming. Kate herself disagreed, leaving Idris blushing as he tried to save face – all whilst Kate was describing her big so-called “cliff-hangers”.
