Susan Boyle shed a whopping 50 pounds after she made a discovery about her health.
The singer, who turns 63 today (April 1), soared to fame in 2009 when she auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent. Susan blew the judges and audience away with her rendition of I Dreamed A Dream and made it all the way to the final of the ITV show.
Despite being pipped at the final hurdle by dance act Diversity, Susan remains one of the most memorable contestants in the show’s history. She’s gone on to have an incredibly successful career, with eight studio albums and 2 Grammy nominations to her name.

She also broke international records and has sold around 25 million albums worldwide. The Scottish star has performed on some of the world’s biggest shows, including America’s Got Talent, The Oprah Show and The X Factor.
Susan has also shown off her vocal skills in front of the late Queen Elizabeth on two occasions. But things haven’t always been easy for the musician.
Susan reportedly struggled with her weight since childhood and was bullied because of how she looked. In 2012, she was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
It is believed Susan began struggling with her growing popularity during this time and slowly gained weight around 2014. Two years later, Susan stepped out looking slimmer than ever.
The singer opened up about her weight loss during an interview with The Mirror that same year. Susan confessed that she dropped the weight by lowering her sugar intake, telling the publication: “I needed to stop eating sweeties and cakes.
“It’s the bane of my life.” Morning walks also contributed to her impressive transformation. In 2022, Susan suffered a stroke.
Susan had to learn how to speak clearly again after the stroke left her speech “almost unintelligible”. She also had to have intensive vocal coaching to enable her to sing again.
The BGT star reportedly spent over a year working on both after she was left with significant muscular weakness down one side, a dropped face and slurred speech. She returned to Britain’s Got Talent in June 2023, taking to the stage with the Les Mis smash hit which is still etched in people’s minds from her audition.
