James Martin halts ITV’s Saturday Morning as loud noise heard outside studio

James Martin had to pause his ITV cooking show because of a loud noise resembling a gunshot.

The TV presenter was speaking to fellow chefs Claude Bosi and Jonny Lake in a repeat episode of Saturday Morning when something interrupted the interview. The chefs had been answering questions sent in by viewers when they were cut off by the disturbance.

James noted: “They are good questions so far. We have got another one. Barbara Rogers, we loved your recipe for Tarte Tatin, it has won awards with the family apparently.”

“I did a Tarte Tatin masterclass,” James noted before reading out the rest of Barbara’s question: “I want to know is there another fruit you can use in a Tarte Tatin?”

He asked Claude and Jonny: “I did a classic apple Tarte Tatin, this is Barbara, what would you recommend with a Tarte Tatin, stick with the apple or….?”.

Claude replied: “Apple is my favourite but you can try pineapple.” Jonny added: “It is also nice with pears. but apple has got to be the one.”

James chipped in: “But it’s not just that you can use vegetables as well,” and the guest chefs replied: “You can use onions, shallots.”

“You can use shallots, bits, and pieces like that,” James agreed before cutting off the conversation to address the sound issue. He reassured viewers: “That is not a shotgun by the way, we have got a crow scarer.

“The farmer has just planted some plants out there, we are going to get a lot of this during the day really. It’s to stop the pigeons going and wrecking his plants as well.”

In June, James took to Instagram to tell his followers he was taking a hiatus from Saturday Morning for the summer. He wrote: “Thank you all for tuning in as we air the last show of this series before the summer break! We look forward to August and returning with more amazing guests and chefs for you! Thank you.”

James’ followers wished him well in the comments, with one writing: “Have a lovely break James and thank you so much for having me on!” Another added: “Thank you, James and all the production team! Always a treat to be on the show! Get some rest! A bientot.”
