Jermaine Jenas makes surprise TV return two months after being sacked by BBC

Jermaine Jenas has been spotted back on the TV for the first time since his BBC sacking, turning up at Arsenal’s epic clash with Liverpool on Sunday. The ex-Newcastle and England star, 41, got the boot from the Beeb in August after a scandal involving allegedly ‘inappropriate’ texts to female colleagues.

He’s been keeping it on the down-low since then. But last month, Jenas popped up on Instagram to chat about the situation and tease a TV comeback, thanking his supporters and dropping hints of a return.

Fast forward to this weekend, and it has emerged that the former One Show host was at the Emirates Stadium, dishing out punditry for an international broadcaster during the Gunners’ big Premier League face-off with Liverpool. He was pictured working for an overseas broadcaster – see below.

Post-football, Jenas slid into punditry, becoming a familiar face on the BBC with Match of the Day gigs and The One Show stints.

There were even whispers he might take over Gary Lineker’s MOTD throne until the BBC announced he was off their roster. A Beeb spokesperson confirmed in August: “We can confirm that he is no longer part of our presenting line up.”

Besides the BBC, Jenas has also been a fixture on TNT Sports’ Premier League coverage, though he’s been MIA there since his BBC exit, reports the Mirror.

Jenas teased fans with a sneak peek into his future plans in a social media video last month, hinting at some “exciting” ventures on the horizon. He shared: “There’s some exciting stuff that I’ve been working on. So hopefully you’ll have that to look forward to very soon. And hopefully I’ll be back just talking about what I love really, which is football. I’ve been living the life of those Spurs fans who’ve been up and down and up and down.”

He continued, reflecting on recent matches: “Forest got a great result up at Anfield and have been playing well. So I’ve been watching but I’m looking forward to kind of getting back and just talking about what I love most. So last of all, thank you very much and, yeah, I’ll see you soon.”
