Charlene candidly admitted that the process had its challenging moments, commenting: “Cried a couple times while doing it, stumbled on words more than a couple times, laughed my head off many many times. Two days down, one more to go!”
The ITV star also shared her excitement when her publisher @shar_love_ made a surprise visit midway through the session to lift her spirits and bolster her confidence. “Swipe for my utter joy of my publisher @shar_love_ popping into the recording studios to boost my energy levels and confidence mid-way through the day. This whole project suddenly feels SO REAL.”
Last month, the presenter received a flood of well wishes when she first announced her latest endeavour. Sharing the big news on Instagram, the mum-of-two revealed: “I’ve written a book! NO PLACE LIKE HOME will be published by @dialoguebooks on September 5 2024,” as reported by the Express.
She revealed: “After what seems like an eternity of thinking about it, I’ve finally taken the leap, put pen to paper, and immersed myself in the beauty that is continuing to tell other peoples’ stories, but through writing.”
She further elaborated on her decision to pen the book, saying: “The idea of ‘home’ is a personal one, and it can be impacted by so many different factors. From food, to phrases, places, to smells, to feelings we struggle to find the words for I’m genuinely fascinated by the different versions of we call ‘home’, and so I decided to write about it.”
Charlene went on: “I’ve spoken to lots of brilliant people, and I’m very grateful to be able to share their stories and so alongside my experience as a Jamaican Londoner, and the experience of my parents and grandparents building a life here in London, there are stories of growing up in care, of fleeing wartorn Ukraine, of finding community through food, and more. I also discuss moments in history, and how our sense of home is shaped socially and culturally. It’s a book that means a lot to me and I’m very proud of, and I can’t wait for you to read it.”
Charlene concluded her announcement by informing fans that pre-orders for her book are now available. Her post was met with a wave of support from friends and fans alike.
Her Loose Women co-star Brenda Edwards responded: “Bloody amazing you special lady xx.”
While Alex Beresford jumped in to congratulate with a cheery “Congratulations Gurl,” Judi Love excitedly expressed: “Congratulations hun!”
