Lorraine Kelly says The Masked Singer was ‘one of most joyful experiences’ of career

Telly icon Lorraine Kelly has gushed that her stint on ‘ The Masked Singer ‘ was the absolute pinnacle of her four-decade-long telly career.

The 64 year old star, who dazzled viewers earlier this year on the ITV sing-off show belting out bangers like Kylie Minogue’s ‘Padam Padam’ and S Club 7’s ‘Don’t Stop Moving’, is buzzing to relive those epic moments with her little granddaughter Billie when she’s a bit older.

Quoted by The Sun’s TVBiz column, Lorraine chirped: “Appearing as an owl on ‘The Masked Singer’ was one of the most enjoyable and happiest of experiences and I can’t wait to show Billie when she is older.”

Not only did she have a hoot on the show, but the telly veteran also bagged herself a BAFTA Special Award earlier this year, recognising her stellar contribution to the small screen.

Lorraine beamed: “The Bafta award was, of course, another highlight.”

Despite her foray into the world of competitive crooning, Lorraine, the queen of morning chat shows, isn’t planning to ditch her day job anytime soon.

She spilled: “I have never had a career plan and I still don’t, I’ve just worked hard and I’ve been lucky.”

“I love what I do and I have a wonderful production team. You never know what the future holds but I found my niche live morning TV suits me.”

In a previous heart-to-heart, Lorraine confessed that she didn’t reckon she was “wonderful” on ‘The Masked Singer’, mainly because it was her first-ever time warbling in front of an audience after signing up for the gig.

Chatting on ITV’s ‘This Morning’, she confessed: “I wasn’t wonderful because I’ve never sung in public before but the joy is that you can’t see anything when that head goes on. I couldn’t see the audience, I didn’t have to do anything, I was just worried about learning the lines.”

She added with a chuckle, “I’d never done it before and where could you get the opportunity to sing in front of an audience and to have such a lot of fun? There is not enough silliness in the world! It was just a joy to do, it is just a joyous show.”
