Michael McIntyre supported by fans as he’s forced to cancel show after urgent surgery

Michael McIntyre had to cancel a gig last minute because he needed surgery.

The 48-year-old funnyman is in the middle of his world tour, called Magnificent, which has taken him on the road for the past year and will continue until September. He’s already performed in the UK, Ireland, Australia, Asia, New Zealand, the UAE, the USA and parts of Europe.

He still has shows to do in the UK, Ireland and European countries like Norway, Finland, the Netherlands, Germany and Sweden. But sadly, fans who were hoping to see him perform in Southampton this week were given some bad news – the show has been cancelled.

On Sunday (March 3), Michael and his team used social media to tell his fans about the sudden change in plans. They promised those with tickets that they would still get to see him on a new date. They shared an update that gave all the details and said sorry to those who were upset because he couldn’t perform as originally planned.

A statement announced: “We regret to inform customers that Michael McIntyre will be unable to perform on Monday, March 4 at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton. Unfortunately, Michael has had an operation to remove kidney stones. The show will be rescheduled to a later date which will be announced shortly.”

“Tickets will remain valid for the new date. If you are unable to make the new date you will be entitled to a refund. We are very sorry for an inconvenience caused.” After this announcement was made, fans responded with both support and sympathy, many of them having suffered through kidney stones themselves.

One fan commented on Michael’s post saying: “Kidney stones – argh the pain! So sorry to hear you’ve been suffering.” Another one wrote: “Ouch! I had kidney stones a few years ago, more painful than giving birth twice… hoping Michael is on the mend.” There was also another fan who shared: “Get well soon Michael! I know how painful that is as I’m just getting over kidney stones although didn’t have them operated on – nature took its course! Hope you get the strong pain relief!”.

Just three days ago, Michael had to cancel another show in the UK, likely due to his health issues. A note shared recently said: “Due to illness Michael is sadly unable to perform tonight’s show (Thursday February 29) at Plymouth Pavilions. The show will be rescheduled to a later date to be announced soon. If you are unable to make the new date you will be entitled to a refund. We are sorry for any inconvenience.”

People can still get tickets for shows in Glasgow, Birmingham, and Belfast. But many of his concerts are already fully booked. Currently, his final concert is set to happen on September 1 in Berlin, Germany, where he’ll be performing at Tempodrom.
