Netflix viewers are “hooked” on one show but all agree one thing ruined it for them.
Fans gathered to say that they “really like it” and that the show was “pretty good,” while another person said: “If you love true crime, this one is gonna blow you away [flame emoji].” One comment read: “I obsessed over this, I recently started it again.”
More people wrote “such a good watch,” “highly recommend,” “so good” and “I got hooked on this,” but some others agreed that one key part of the series left them disappointed. One critic wrote: “If you can get past her terrible phoney accent, I guess it’s ok.”

Another said: “Couldn’t take the affected accent. Tried but never finished it.” Despite this, more fans flocked to gush over the Netflix series and admitted they were “a bit addicted,” that they’ve watched the show “multiple times” and that new viewers will “wish it just kept going”.
The drama series was released back in 2022 and features Julia Garner as Anna Delvey, Anna Chlumsky as Vivian Kent, Laverne Cox as Kacy Duke and Saamer Usmani as Chase Sikorski. The official Netflix description reads: “Audacious entrepreneur or con artist? A journalist chases down the story of Anna Delvey, who convinced New York’s elite she was a German heiress.
Inventing Anna was inspired by the story of Anna Sorokin and the New York article How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People by Jessica Pressler. The show follows Russian-born Anna Sorokin, who goes by the pseudonym Anna Delvey.
The attempts to convince members of New York’s high society that she is a German socialite in an attempt to scam them out of millions of dollars. The nine episode series was released in full back in February 2022 and was overall well received by streamers and critics alike.
Rotten Tomatoes reads: “While Inventing Anna is as tonally wobbly as Julia Garner’s intentionally daffy accent, her committed performance and the salacious story make for juicy entertainment.” However, Mike Hale – a television critic for the New York Times – compared the series to Jessica’s original article and quipped: “Pressler’s article was like a speeding car, a thrill ride that kept your pulse up right until it went off a cliff. Inventing Anna is a long, pokey road trip with no GPS.”
