Netflix fans have been touched by one heart-breaking series they’ve branded “a masterpiece”.
Over in the Netflix Bangers group on Facebook, one person asked the group if The Railway Men series was “good or bad,” which sparked discussion in the comment section. Many gushed over the series which they branded “one of the best series,” while someone else said: “It’s called [a] masterpiece.”
Another person added: “The best Indian series I’ve seen in a while,” a second typed: “Amazing. One of the best Netflix India original,” as a third person chimed in with: “Great screenplay and good story…based on true events.”

One commenter also explained: “Great storytelling, plot and binge worthy. Also each character plays their significant roles and the ending has a small little climax/twist which I loved.”

The Railway Men – The Untold Story of Bhopal 1984 is a Indian Hindi language historical drama released back in November 2023. It follows the story of the workers who saved many, many lives during toxic gas leak at Union Carbide India Limited’s plant, located in the Indian city of Bhopal.
The chemical accident occurred on 2-3 December 1984 and has been considered “the world’s worst industrial disaster”. It has been reported that over 500,000 people in the towns surrounding the pesticide plant were exposed to methyl isocyanate.

Estimates on the total death toll are varied but the official number of immediate deaths is 2,259. The Netflix description of the series reads: “After a deadly gas leaks from a factory in Bhopal, brave railway workers risk their lives to save others in the face of an unspeakable disaster.”
The show stars R. Madhavan, Kay Kay Menon, Divyenndu and Babil Khan.
Over on YouTube In the comment section for The Railway Men’s official trailer video, more Netflix streamers gathered to praise the miniseries. One person said: “Finished this four episode series and [I] must say, it perfectly encapsulated the helplessness, valour and united struggle of common citizens who became victims of this tragedy. All [the] actors were phenomenal and [the] direction was top notch.”
