Netflix fans so wild for ‘gorgeous eye candy’ star they forget to watch the film

Netflix streamers have been left a little hot under the collar.

Rebel Ridge was recently released on the streaming platform and viewers can’t stop gushing over the main character. In the Netflix Bangers group on Facebook, someone sarcastically wrote: “I definitely watched this for the plot!! The plot baby, phew!!” as the caption to a picture of Aaron Pierre, who plays Terry Richmond in the film.

Although many viewers were less than impressed with the movie, countless fans flocked to fawn over the lead actor. One comment read: “Agree, he is gorgeous [heart-eyed emoji] but ending disappointed me,” as someone else wrote: “Bad movie, beautiful actor.”

Another streamer branded Pierre “eye candy” as one person joked: “Sorry? What? There was a plot? Must’ve missed that, lol.” “He’s very pretty,” gushed a film fan with another writing: “Yes, that’s one helluva plot [heart-eyed emoji].”

A third fawned: “This is sooo good and he is [an] absolutely beautiful man.” Others slammed the plot, branding the storyline “too boring,” “slow” and “downhill”.

One person chimed in: “Good movie…not too much action though, unfortunately.”

“No words could describe how terrible this movie is,” said another. A second wrote: “Very slow, it was just ok,” and a third was “not so keen on the ending” which “could have been better” – but that didn’t seem to stop many streamers from enjoying what (or who) was on their screen.

Rebel Ridge stars Pierre alongside AnnaSophia Robb, Don Johnson, David Denman, James Cromwell and Emory Cohen. The crime thriller follows an ex-marine who has to navigate “a web of small town corruption”.

Despite Netflix streamers’ negative reviews of the 131 minute long film, Rebel Ridge received positive feedback from critics. Rotten Tomatoes awarded the Netflix project an 8/10 and branded the film “an intelligent and gripping vehicle” for Pierre’s “star-making performance”.

Metacritic also gave Rebel Ridge a 79 out of 100 with “generally favourable” reviews.
