Olivia Colman exposes gross pranks she pulled on Emma Stone in Hollywood movie

Olivia Colman once surprised her co-star Emma Stone with a gross prank while filming a sex scene on The Favourite.

The dynamic duo worked together back in 2018 in a period film directed by Yorgos Lanthimos. The film explored the life of Queen Anne and her relationship with her confidant Sarah Churchill and her cousin Abigail.

During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, the Hollywood favourite, 50, lifted the lid on the mortifying moment she pranked the La La Land star during an intimate scene. Talking about the awkward sex scenes, she told the TV presenter how the director made everyone feel comfortable on the closed set.

She gushed: “You have to feel safe to do those things, don’t you? You have to feel secure in the director and you have to trust them, and I trust him completely. It was just all quite embarrassing.”

It was at this point that The Crown star revealed how she took things to the next level in order to protect her dignity during their racy bedroom scene. She chuckled: “So Emma Stone had to f***er me.

“So in order to avoid finding something that you probably shouldn’t because it’s under the sheet [I came up with a plan.] Because she said to me, ‘I’m a little bit worried it’ and I said, ‘Oh don’t worry, don’t worry’.

“I said, ‘Oh, I know, I know’, so I asked the makeup department if they had a sponge so I could put it [between my legs].” The TV star couldn’t help but chuckle as she recalled how the actress recoiled when she touched the wet sponge.

Olivia went on: “It was a big, wet sponge, and her face was a picture when she put her hand up my leg and found it. I said, ‘Don’t worry, don’t worry, it’s just a sponge’.” Colman certainly is no stranger to tackling royal roles, after she took over the reins from Claire Foy to play Queen Elizabeth II in the Netflix epic.

Speaking about the difference between the two royal roles, she told the Press Association: “It could not be more different. I find the harder is Queen Elizabeth because everyone knows what she looks like, everyone knows what she sounds like, everyone has an opinion on whether the casting is right.

“And I am loving the job, I am loving trying to play her, but I find her harder. The different between the two, playing different people is what I went into this job for, that’s the whole point of being an actor, so I am having a lovely time.”

It comes after the Oscar-winning British actress revealed she would be paid “a lot more” for her films if she was a man. Speaking on CNN, she explained: “I’m very aware that if I was Oliver Colman, I’d be earning a… lot more than I am.

“I know of one pay disparity which was a 12,000% difference. Do the maths.” The issue of equal pay in Hollywood burst open a decade ago, but the latest top 10 list of the best-paid actors contains just two women.
