Pete Wicks already injured days after Strictly announcement as he bends over in pain

Pete Wicks has already picked up an injury days after starting training for Strictly.

The TOWIE legend was confirmed for the 2024 Strictly Come Dancing line-up this week, alongside the likes of Love Island star Tasha Ghouri and EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick. But it seems rehearsals might be taking a toll on the reality star already.

Pete made an appearance on best pal Sam Thompson’s Instagram, showing off some of his dance skills. As Sam sang the Strictly theme tune, Pete showed off his moves.

But he then bent over and rubbed his legs as he said: “F*** me, I’ve done my groin in.” But he bounced back and carried on larking around with his podcast co-star.

I’m A Celebrity champ Sam couldn’t help making a dig at his friend, though. He said: “You don’t look much like your Strictly picture.”

Pete said: “Yeah it’s from five years ago, it’s from the calendar years.” The Strictly promo pictures are yet to be released, but Sam will no doubt be excited to see his friend in the sparkling outfits.

After the news of Pete signing up was announced, the duo released an adorable video which showed him telling Sam.

Sam could not have been more excited, with Pete following in the footsteps of Sam’s girlfriend Zara McDermott, who competed in 2023. Recently, though, her Strictly experience turned sour when her pro partner Graziano Di Prima was fired and admitted he had kicked her during rehearsals.

But Zara’s trauma doesn’t appear to have put Pete off, or stop Sam getting excited.

Speaking on Kiss FM when the news was announced, Pete said he was “excited and absolutely petrified”.

He went on: “It’s a mixture of excited and absolutely petrified, it’s fear, you can see straight into my soul.”

On their Staying Relevant podcast, Pete said: “Sam’s planned every Saturday he will be at the show, Sam is the one person who will be there every single Saturday.”

And it sounds like the Made In Chelsea star is really going to go all out. Pete added: “He’s making T-shirts, the guy really needs to get a life.”
