R Kelly’s daughter, Buku Abi, has made shocking allegations against her father, accusing him of sexually abusing her as a child.
The 26 -year -old revealed in the TVEI Streaming Network’s two-part documentary, Karma: A Daughter’s Journey, that she was sexually assaulted by the disgraced musician when she was just eight or nine years old.
Buku claimed that she first reported the abuse to her mother in 2009 when she was around 10-years-old. Kelly, now 57, is currently serving a 31-year sentence in a medium security federal prison in North Carolina after being convicted of multiple child sexual abuse charges in 2021 and 2022.

In the revealing documentary, Buku confessed: “He was my everything. For a long time, I didn’t even want to believe that it happened. I didn’t know that even if he was a bad person that he would do something to me. I was too scared to tell anybody. I was too scared to tell my mom.”
While Buku did not disclose any specific details about the alleged abuse, she agreed that prison is a “well-suited place” for her father. She also opened up about the profound impact the alleged abuse had on her life, stating that “one millisecond completely changed my whole life and changes who I was as a person and changed the sparkle I had and the light I used to carry”.
Following her disclosure to her mother, Buku, along with her brother Robert and sister Jaah, ceased visiting their father, reports the Mirror. People magazine disclosed that Kelly’s lawyer, Jennifer Bonjean, staunchly defended her client: “Mr. Kelly vehemently denies these allegations.
“His ex-wife made the same allegation years ago, and it was investigated by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and was unfounded…. And the ‘filmmakers,’ whoever they are, did not reach out to Mr. Kelly or his team to even allow him to deny these hurtful claims.”
The news emerges alongside revelations from Kelly’s daughter Joanne about her troubled bond with her father. She confirmed she’ll keep her young son away from visiting the convicted singer, explaining: “I really feel like that one millisecond completely just changed my whole life,” referring to Kelly’s 2022 conviction.
“If my son asks questions, I’m going to be as truthful as possible. And I will not be taking my son to prison to meet his grandfather.”
The fall from grace for the “I Believe I Can Fly” star has been dramatic, as he received a whopping 30-year jail term for racketeering and sex trafficking. Adding to his legal woes, in February of the previous year, he bagged an additional 20-year sentence related to child pornography and enticing minors into sexual activities.
Kelly is now confined to the walls of the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago, where his attempts to overturn his convictions have hit the wall. Joanne, 26, revealed the painful truth about her fractured bond with her father, saying: “Nobody wants to be the child of the father that is out here hurting women and children. He knows exactly why we can’t have the relationship that we would have liked to have with him.”
Her emotions got the better of her as she continued to discuss her father, admitting: “He was my everything. For a long time, I didn’t even want to believe that it happened. I didn’t know that, even if he was a bad person, that he would do something to me.”
