TV presenter Richard Madeley could be potentially facing another blow to his career as fans claimed there is “no point” of buying his new novel.
The 68-year-old appeared on ITV’s Lorraine to discuss his new book with host Lorraine Kelly. Ricahard’s latest revenge thriller titled Father’s Day, is centred around an internet troll and the search for his revenge.
Divulging into the synopsis, Richard was excited to share the details of his story. But fans were quick to point out that he may have given too much of the plot away and there’s no longer a need to purchase it.

Heading over to X formerly known as Twitter, one viewer said: “Is it worth buying now? He’s just reeled off quite a lot before you’ve read the first page!”
A second person echoed: “Well, guess that saves me reading the book, then!” A third viewer also added: “No need to read that book then.” Richard also gave away the plot during an appearance on Sunday Brunch, with one viewer complaining: “Well done to @ChefTomKerridge for just about keeping it together whilst Richard Madeley described the whole story of his book in 3 minutes, limited any possible need to buy it.”
Others were more positive, however, with one X user writing: “Well I for one am looking forward to reading Richard’s new book #Lorraine.” Another agreed: “I don’t care what anyone says I’m SO EXCITED for Richard Madeley’s book.”
Sharing the details of the story, Richard began by saying: “The story opens there, on a mid-summer day. A policeman and a policewoman have been called to the Roman amphitheater because people living nearby have heard screams and yelps and odd noises.
Richard then revealed that the two policemen were met with a large wooden cross. He then exposed that it was in fact a crucifixion and there was “a body of a man, he’s upside down, he’s very dead.”
He then said: “It is not a plot spoiler to give that away. It’s more of a why done it and will he get away with it, rather than a who done it.”
The news of Richard’s book comes after some viewers have called for the journalist to be dropped from Good Morning Britain. Richard has been a regular host on the show since 2017 but has often been criticised for his interviewing style.
Last month, his interview with George Galloway resulted in numerous Ofcom complaints. Not only this but Richard’s comments towards British Palestinian MP Layla Moran led to 2378 complaints.
