Shirley Ballas has eyed up a huge reality show stint worlds away from the glitz and glamour of the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom – but she’d be forced to leave the BBC One show.
Loyal fans of the dance competition will know how the northern lass won the hearts of the nation when she took over the role as head judge from Len Goodman in 2017. The TV gig came at the perfect time after the 63-year-old claimed she was being bullied by men “at the top” of the ballroom dancing industry.
Since then, she has gone from strength to strength, becoming an author, a TV personality and a professional ballroom dancer. More recently, the mum-of-one has been exploring new career opportunities away from the shimmer and sparkle of Strictly.

Last week, the TV star was revealed as Rat on The Masked Singer UK after fooling detectives on the show. Now, in an interview with Daily Star and other press, Shirley has hinted that she may have signed up to another star-studded reality show what will push her out of her comfort zone.
When asked what other reality shows she would love to take part in, she told us: “Oh I want to do SAS: Who Dares Wins, I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! I want a man to scream in my face because I’ve had that all my life, I think that could kind of be fun.
“I like anything that’s jungle-orientated or anything that means I have to put wellington boots on and gets you out there, out on the moors. Not so much the glitz and the glamour because even though I have it on Strictly, I’ve had it all my life.”
She added: “I’ve been wearing [false] eyelashes since I was about eight, so I’m up for anything.” When asked if she had been approached by any of the shows she is interested in, she teased: “Maybe.”
If she did join the cast of the ITV jungle this year, Shirley would have to forfeit her time on star-studded judging panel during the final weeks leading up to the BBC final to fly out to Australia. Fans will have to stay tuned to see what the ballroom expert gets up to next.
It comes after the doting mum confessed that she wore nothing but her “panties” underneath her elaborate Rat costume on the ITV detective show. She explained how ITV producers provided her with sweat-proof “special underwear” to help her perform under the lights.
But Shirley decided to strip down to nothing but her knickers so that she could “embrace” the costume. She explained: “I embraced it [the costume].

“They gave me like special underwear to go in, of which I took most of it off and just kept my panties on. Because I wanted it closer to my skin and I didn’t want to feel overheated.”
The award-winning dancer pointed out that arguably the toughest part of the costume was singing in the mask. Shirley continued: “This head was quite heavy but, you know, with a little bit of practice, I got used to it.
“I could balance a little bit on one foot and I just tried to see how far I could go with him.”
The Masked Singer continues on Saturdays on ITV1 from 7pm or catch up on ITVX.
