Strictly Come Dancing fans concerned as they spot ‘tension’ between couple after ‘snub’

Strictly fans believe there may be tension between Toyah Willcox and her pro partner Neil Jones.

Fans of the BBC show also think she’ll be the first celeb to leave the competition. She was pegged by bookies to be first out after landing bottom of the leaderboard with 12 points last week.

But the judges seemed chuffed with her progress after her dance on Saturday (September 28) which scored 18. The danced a jive to Tina Turner classic Nutbush City Limits – and Neil was clearly impressed as he told her: “You smashed that!”.

Anton du Beke couldn’t help but reminisce, saying: “That move at the beginning reminded me of Blackpool last year when Craig was crawling across a bar.” Praising her, he added: “This was a thousand times better than last week. More of that please.”

But Craig Revel Horwood wasn’t having any of it and said: “Well it wasn’t a thousand times, that’s a slight exaggeration.” Still, he acknowledged: “It was flat-footed,” yet conceded: “I loved your energy.”, reports the Mirror.

Shirley Ballas also noted the improvement since last week, saying: “Give her a little cuddle from me because that was much better than last week. Last week to this week, definitely better marks.”

The head judge gushed: “I’m going to call you my rock chick because I lived in Texas for five years, and when I hear that music, I just go back there, I can see all those people doing the line dances and doing the different types of Jives. You had windmills in there, a windmill. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a windmill on Strictly.”

Fans claimed Toyah “blanked” the pro during the show on Saturday (September 28)

Despite the uptick in Toyah’s scores, some viewers thought there was trouble brewing between the duo, with a viewer on X writing: “I’m sensing tension with Toyah and Neil. #Strictly.”

Another fan responded: “Me too! At the beginning, on the stairs, he was proper looking at her and she totally blanked him.”

A third said: “There’s something about Toyah and Neil together which just doesn’t work. Shame. I like her but she’s not coming across that great. #Strictly.”

Another chimed in: “It’s all about Neil in the partnership with Toyah I’m so annoyed. Others play to their partners’ strengths #Strictly.”

Bracing for disappointment, a viewer remarked: “Might as well say goodbye to Toyah tonight, there’s no way she’s not going tomorrow #Strictly.”

But others were more positive, with one saying: “Don’t understand people’s hate for Toyah and Neil. Love them. Toyah has greatly improved this week”.

Echoing the positivity, another fan added: “Toyah and Neil’s Jive was just a bundle of fun tonight. Who could not enjoy the Tina Turner classic music too. Toyah is looking good and full of energy. Fingers crossed for tonight,”.

Sunday night will see the first departure from the dance floor as one couple is axed in the elimination round. The two stars with the fewest votes face the dreaded dance-off, and if you ask the bookies, Toyah appears to be in trouble.

Chad Yeomans from Betway told Express.co.uk: “After Toyah Wilcox scored just 12 points on Strictly’s opening night, she’s now the 7/4 favourite to leave the competition first.”

Hot on her heels are other celebs facing the chop former football star Paul Merson is sitting at 3/1 odds and TV host Nick Knowles isn’t safe either, pegged at 5/1, hinting they could both be dancing for survival this weekend.

He went on to say: “Meanwhile, comedian Chris McCausland is stealing the spotlight, with his odds to win the show slashed from 10/1 to 7/2, making him the joint-favourite alongside Tasha Ghouri.”

“Chris dazzled the audience with his first performance, and his natural charm and wit have vaulted him into serious contention for the Glitterball trophy.”
