Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas lands big-money deal for novels to be TV drama

Shirley Ballas has netted a big-money deal to turn one of her novels into a TV drama.

The Strictly judge sold the rights for bestseller Murder on the Dance Floor to a major production company and a six-part series is now in the works.

She said: “It has has been picked up for a series. It’s very exciting.

“I’m not sure on how long it’ll take for it to be made. This is a new project for me and I’ve not done this before, so I don’t know how long it’ll take. But I’m excited.”

Shirley will be working alongside producers to make sure the series is as good as the novel.

She added: “I will be involved in it all and I’ll be taking guidance on who will be in the cast.”

Shirley had big success when she released Murder on the Dance Floor last year.

The star is thrilled the book will now be hitting the small screen.

She said: “When I was going into meetings, I was staring out and thinking, ‘Seriously?’.

“It’s going further down the chain as time goes on, so it’s a very exciting process.”

Shirley released second novel Dance To The Death earlier this year and she is already planning a third title.
