Strictly pro issues ‘family’ advice to celebs after stars suffered infamous show curse

Aljaz Skorjanec has given Strictly stars some advice about relationships.

The Slovenian dancer has returned as a professional on the BBC ballroom show, two years after leaving. Aljaz – who is married to former pro Janette Manrara – is paired with Love Island beauty Tasha Ghouri and the duo are dazzling the judges with their fancy footwork.

Fans of the show know all about the so-called Strictly curse, which over the years has seen many people’s romances suffer when they develop feelings for other people on the show. However, it seems Aljaz could have the answer for people if it does strike.

While he didn’t mention the Strictly curse specifically, during a chat on ITV’s Loose Women he stressed the importance of contestants, pros and their significant others becoming “one big unit” during the series.

“I always found the best way to do Strictly when you have someone who is in a relationship, with a family, is to do it as one big unit,” he said. “I feel like everyone needs to be a part of it.

“Because there’s a lot of hours in rehearsals, there is a lot of time you are away. And it’s so beautiful to have that immediate support system really really involved.”

The most significant case of the Strictly curse was came when comedian Seann Walsh was caught kissing his pro partner Katya Jones – she was married to fellow Strictly dancer Neil Jones at the time and Sean was in a relationship.

Aljaz and Janette, who have a daughter named Lyra, even enjoyed a night out with Tasha and her Love Island boyfriend Andrew Page. “We went for a double date with all of us and secretly I am hoping that maybe Andrew and I go on a date now alone!” joked the dancer.

Tasha was on Loose Women too and told how she had “manifested” being on Strictly Come Dancing this year. She told the panel she was a big fan of the BBC ballroom series and that she had been wanting to do the competition.

The model decided to write down several times that she would get the call in 2024 in a bid to make it actually happen in real life – and it did. So far, the only couple with rumours of a romance is Pete Wicks and his pro partner Jowita Przystal – but this isn’t confirmed.
