This Morning fans fume at ‘disrespectful’ hosts and say ‘have a word with yourself’

Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley have rubbed up This Morning viewers the wrong way.

The new presenters of the ITV show were back on the famous blue sofa on Thursday (March 21) and spoke to the grieving parents of Nuria Sajjad, who was killed when a Land Rover ploughed into a school last year.

Nuria enjoyed an end-of-term tea party at the all-girls school in Wimbledon and had just read out her “hopes and dreams” for the holiday. Less than one minute before Nuria and her classmate were killed by the black-and-gold car, she had posed for a photograph with her mother Smera Chohan, which shows the two smiling widely to celebrate the start of the school holiday.

Smera suffered suffered eight broken ribs, a broken shoulder and pelvis and needed to undergo three surgical operations but Nuria’s injuries were fatal and she passed away in hospital three days later. As a result of her own injuries, Ms Chohan was unable to hug her daughter goodbye.

The heartbroken mum broken down in tears as she recalled her daughter’s death and Ben and at were both visibly emotional as they listened to her recalling their final moments together. The interview also left a lasting on some viewers watching at home. One fan penned on X, formerly known as Twitter,: “This story about Nuria Sajjad is so heartbreaking. The police know who the driver is so why was she released under investigation? It’s been 8 months since Nuria & Selena Lau were killed and the parents deserve justice.”

Another added: “Watching the mother of Nuria Sajjad on #ThisMorning I have NEVER wanted justice for someone more than this. Why has nobody been charged yet – complexity and understaffing?? Do your job!” A third person said: “I’d never thought I’d be in a flood of tears this morning. These parents deserve justice more than anything else, they really do.”

After taking a break following the harrowing interview, Ben and Cat appeared in good spirits with the later dancing after the introduction music finished playing. After watching Cat dance on camera minutes after the interview, one viewer fumed: “In such bad taste Ben and Cat #thismorning.” A second agreed: “How the f*uk can Ben & Cat be bouncing around smiling after that interview & not mention it been a tough interview!!” A third said: “Coming back from the break happy as Larry.” A fourth moaned: “That happy dancing did look a tad disrespectful Cat. Have a word with yourself #ThisMorning”
