This Morning’s Dermot O’Leary admits ditching underwear in ‘liberating’ confession

The This Morning studio was reduced to laughter on Thursday morning after co-presenter Dermot O’Leary made a rather revealing confession.

The ITV show began with traditional Burns Night (January 25) celebrations that saw Lance Sergeant Dougie Warren from the Scots Guards piping in the haggis – followed by a procession that included Dermot, stand-in host Sian Welby and a number of the programme’s crew.

After Dougie was asked a whole host of questions about his bagpipes skills and revealed he had performed at Elizabeth II’s funeral and King Charles III’s coronation, the conversation soon took a more light-hearted turn. With Dougie sipping a ‘wee dram’ Sian declared: “It’s going to be a fun show today – I can feel it in my waters”, before introducing Scots baker, Coinneach McLeod.

After detailing his vegetarian haggis recipe, Coinneach gave the presenters a twirl to showcase his clan’s tartan kilt.

Impressed, Sian said: “You look very smart”, before Dermot agreed: “I love it.” Coinneach then asked the former X Factor host if he had ever worn a kilt himself, to which he affirmed: “I have. It was freeing.”

Dermot continued: “Very freeing!” Sian joked: “Oh I see, that’s too much information!” Laughing, Dermot hit back: “No, Sian! It was liberating. It was marvellous.”

Earlier in the day, meanwhile, Sian found herself at the centre of a bullying row after she was accused of ridiculing a small business with Roman Kemp and Chris Stark on their Capital Breakfast show – which resulted in 100 complaints to Ofcom.

The trio were discussing Chocolate Moments, a business owned by Maria Antoniou which sells chocolate bars filled with crisps for £4,99. They claimed the website looks “like a child’s made it”, with 37-year old Sian joking it could be “some sort of con”.

Sian told Dermot his confession was ‘too much information’

She pointed out that a number of flavours were out of stock, swiping: “Has it already failed? Is it bankruptcy already? I was quite excited. It’s not maybe been as popular.”

She added: “Oops I tell you why, some of the flavours lamb and mint… with chocolate, that’s a bit off. Look it says it’s all out of stock. Do you think it’s ever been in stock?” Roman, 30, weighed in: “The contact number at the bottom is a mobile number and the email is just a person name”.

“They are probably running a business out of their garage,” Sian declared, leaving several listeners to hit out on X (formerly Twitter) at the trio’s “disrespectful” remarks.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV
