Wheel Of Fortune contestant Megan Carvale has spoken out to set the record straight after fans were convinced the player was “robbed”.
During the final round of the game show, Carvale was playing for a whopping $40,000 if she correctly guessed the puzzle: “P _ N _ / _ R C _ _ D.” Megan tried to figure out which letters filled in the gaps and it was later revealed that the answer was “pink orchid,” which fans were under the impression she had suggested as one of her guesses.

In an interview with Good Morning America, Megan admitted: “You know, I wish I had said ‘pink’ because I would have been $40,000 richer, but I said [the word] ‘something’.” She continued on to say: “My son […] the whole way home from L.A., [he said]: ‘Mom, I can’t believe you didn’t get pink, I can’t believe you didn’t get pink!”
Carvale also said that the “word has already been haunting her” as “all of America believes she said it,” but confirmed again that she didn’t utter the prize-winning phrase. Although she didn’t get the answer right, Megan still took home an incredible $14,007 and a holiday to Aruba.
On the show, host Pat told Megan that she “might have been overthinking the type of orchid” and was “sorry that it didn’t work out for her”. Fans took to social media to share their frustration and commented their thoughts on the game show moment.
Someone even called out Wheel of Fortune and said that they “definitely heard the contestant say pink orchid” and even “rewound the show to make sure,” before they demanded producers hand over the money as they “owe her some dollars”.
Another person typed: “She said it, we back it up three times. I hope they make it right,” as one viewer asked if she was “tripping” because she heard Megan say the correct answer. More fans gathered on social media to say that they “definitely” heard the right words come out of Carvale’s mouth.
