BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty issues on-air warning to guest over ‘rude word’

BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty was forced to interrupt Coronation Street star Nigel Havers on the red sofa as she warned him about using a “rude word” on the show

BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty had to lay down the law with her guest to avoid any on-air slip-ups. On Friday’s show (February 7), Naga, alongside co-host Charlie Stayt, was dishing out the latest news when former Coronation Street star Nigel Havers joined them on the couch.

Nigel was there to chat about his career and upcoming tour, but Naga had to step in swiftly as the tour’s name contained a word that could spell trouble for the BBC show. Naga warned, “You know what I’m most fascinated about? Obviously, we can’t say the name of your tour because it has a rude word.”

As Nigel began to respond, Naga interjected with a firm: “Don’t! Don’t! “

Nigel reassured her, saying, “No, I’m not going to, I would never say it! But I did check up on this word and someone said this word in the House of Commons a year ago or so and the speaker said, ‘wait a minute,’ and he checked and said, ‘it’s fine.'” Naga confirmed, “It’s fine! But we’re not going to on Breakfast telly.” The actor then cleverly described his tour as “talking nonsense”.

Nigel’s cheekily titled tour, Talking B*****ks, marks his first solo stint where he’ll regale audiences with a slew of amusing anecdotes, reports the Express.

Nigel is set to charm audiences with his first ever solo show, and he’s released a tantalising synopsis that promises a night of laughter and nostalgia. The blurb teases: “Well, here it is – my first ever solo show. Just me, a stage, and a lifetime of gloriously ridiculous stories to share. You’ll get the full Havers experience: charm, wit, and absolutely no running in slow motion.”

Nigel is ready to take fans on a rollicking journey through his five decades in the limelight, from his start as an eager drama student to his roles in iconic films and TV shows, not forgetting his stints in West End theatre and Palladium Pantos.

He’s also set to spill the beans with some juicy backstage gossip, recounting tales of both triumph and disaster, moments of madness, and, in his own words: “Of course, there’ll be behind-the-scenes gossip, tales of triumph (and disaster), moments of sheer madness, and a fair bit of talking b****cks.”
