The Brit Awards 2025 kicked off with a bang as celebrities and nominees graced the Mastercard red carpet at London’s O2 – in varying levels of fashion success.

With comedian Jack Whitehall back as host and Sabrina Carpenter among the star-studded performers, the atmosphere was electric. Full-train dresses were the order of the day, but not all stars hit the mark with their outfits – including Teddy Swims’ perplexing ensemble made entirely of children’s toys. Here’s our pick of the five best and worst dressed of the night so far.

Sabrina Carpenter

Global music sensation and Espresso hitmaker Sabrina Carpenter once again wowed in a pastel pink gown adorned with lace and frills. The blush pink dress trailed behind the petite singer, featuring a halter-neck and tight bodice with ruffles cascading outwards, reports the Express.

Sabrina styled her blonde locks into perfect curls before hitting the red carpet ahead of her live performance.

Kara Marni

Kara Marni turned heads for all the wrong reasons when she arrived on the red carpet in nothing more than a low-slung skirt and a leather band posing as a bra. The R&B star wore a studded leather belt around her chest, held together with a precarious buckle, and paired it with an elegant black silk skirt with a short train that concealed her feet.

Brunette beauty Kara turned heads with her bold look, accentuated by glitzy gold earrings and a bare midriff braving the UK weather.

Meanwhile, Pussycat Dolls’ Ashley Roberts dazzled the crowd in a sequined gold gown with a daring cut-out front, paired with a wet-look hairstyle and understated makeup.

Sam Ryder

However, Eurovision star Sam Ryder’s Brit Awards outfit didn’t quite hit the mark. His double denim ensemble, complete with pale blue jeans, an oversized jacket, and a white vest top, was more builder chic than red carpet ready.

Despite his visible tattoos and camel-coloured shoes, his look sadly seemed out of place at the glamorous event, which is probably why presenter Jack Whitehall joked he was a drug dealer.

On the other hand, Arielle Free shone on the red carpet.

Arielle Free

Arielle Free made a striking appearance at the ceremony, donning a gorgeous black lace gown that ended mid-thigh and featured dramatic puff sleeves. The Scottish DJ paired her outfit with chandelier earrings and a sleek wet-look hairstyle.

Her dress flowed into a floral neckline with transparent panels over her arms and stomach, maintaining modesty with a black band across the chest. She looked stunning as she confidently walked the red carpet.

Teddy Swims

In contrast, Teddy Swims turned heads for all the wrong reasons with one of the most peculiar outfits in Brit Awards history. He arrived on the carpet completely covered in children’s toys, including a shark, a lime green teddy bear, and a penguin.

His ensemble was completed with lime green shoes and black trousers, and he accessorised with round sunglasses. Fans had mixed reactions, with some calling his outfit “iconic and wholesome”, while others found it downright strange.

Love Island star Zara wowed in an angelic frock(Image: (Image: Getty))

Zara McDermott

Zara McDermott, the Love Island star, impressed fans with her heavenly look at the Brits. She chose a fluffy white dress with a thigh-high split up one leg.

The gown, adorned with feather fringes along a long train, rose into a halter-neck and featured a sculpted corset-style body. Zara matched her dress with silky white stiletto heels and styled her blonde hair into an elegant up-do.

Despite the cold, she decided to leave her jacket at home, braving the weather in her sleeveless number.

This Morning star Sian Welby wore a bizarre ensemble(Image: (Image: Getty))

Sian Welby

This Morning’s Sian Welby had a rare fashion miss at the Brits, with her Gladiator-inspired chest piece and metallic silver mermaid-tail skirt. Despite looking radiant as ever, her dress reflected the red carpet and Mastercard branding, causing her to blend in.

Whitney Adebayo showed up in a bold lilac piece(Image: (Image: Getty))

Whitney Adebayo

On the other hand, Love Islander Whitney Adebayo turned heads in a stunning lilac gown made up of intricate net pieces. The bold gown paid off, leaving her legs mostly bare but for a pair of peep-toe sandals.

She paired the extravagant look with gold earrings and a clean makeup look.

CMAT wore a baffling dress with a fur coat(Image: (Image: Getty))

CMAT

However, CMAT, whose real name is Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, opted for a statement look on the red carpet with a faux fur coat and thigh-skimming dress – with a bra bursting out of the top. Leaving several buttons undone on the gold-and-black patterned gown, CMAT left her bold black bra on display.

The star completed her look with a pair of shiny gold kitten heels and a chunky gold necklace. She styled her red hair in a half-up, half-down ‘do and wore large gold hoop earrings.

However, the overall effect gave the impression that she’d walked out of a charity shop with a dress that was the wrong size.
