Former Disney actress Christy Carlson Romano has given her fans an update on her recovery following a shooting accident earlier this month.

The star of Even Stevens was rushed to hospital during a birthday celebration for her husband Brendan Rooney on Feb. 8, after she was shot multiple times in the face.

The incident occurred while Christy and her husband were at a clay pigeon shooting range in Texas. A few days after the accident, Christy took to Instagram to share details about her injuries, which included a wound beneath her eye and a lot of bruising.

The Kim Possible alumn revealed that one of the bullets was “still inside” as it was considered “‘too risky” to remove due to the risk of blindness if she underwent surgery.

“1 accident, 2 miracles,” she captioned a social media post. “Dr. Chris Schneider said when the fragment that struck my head hit, it gave me a concussion (explains why I was so woozy).

“Looks like it’s deep enough into my skull where I can’t remove it, but it also won’t move on its own.”

In her post, Christy also revealed that one of the bullets struck her cheekbone which saved her brain from being hit. On Valentine’s Day, Christy took to her Instagram Stories to update her followers about how the shooting has impacted her emotionally, reports the Mirror US.

“I had to make a really big decision as to whether or not I wanted to share this,” she shared. She explained her decision to open up about the event: “The reason why I decided to share it was because I didn’t want to run from it… I want to move on from it and use it as a source of growth and stronger faith.”

Christy took the opportunity to alert others about gun safety in hopes of making a difference.

“By sharing this, it could help people. It can remind people about pew, pew safety,” she wrote and added a note of encouragement, “Just remember, never give up even on your hardest days.”
