Eamonn Holmes shares heartbreaking health update saying ‘I can’t move’ after falling on air

Eamonn Holmes has revealed that he is now unable to walk following a recent fall during his GB News programme which left viewers at home concerned for the TV presenter

Eamonn Holmes has bravely shed light on his health battles during an emotional segment on GB News’s Monday programme.

The renowned telly figure took a nasty tumble from his chair live on air as he presented with co-anchor Ellie Costello back on May 22. While he seemed to come out of the mishap without a scratch, it turns out Eamonn is actually fighting some serious health woes off-screen.

While chatting on the show, Eamonn and Ellie had actor Tim Vincent in the studio who was chewing over a recent study that claims a solid workout plan could slash death risk by a third and might stop cancer tumours making an unwanted comeback.

This juicy bit of research got aired at Asco’s big cancer meet-up in Chicago and got a spot in the New England Journal of Medicine too, reports Devon Live.

As Tim bigged up hitting the gym, Eamonn, who’s clocked up 65 years, piped up: “This makes me feel awful because I would have been pro-exercise, but I can’t move.

“I’m in a wheelchair now. I can’t put on trainers, I can’t change, I can’t go to the showers, I can’t stand up. There are a lot of people who can’t exercise, and they are at risk of cancer.”

Tim hit back with some words of encouragement, telling him: “You are in a really difficult position. Any exercise is going to help.”

Just a fortnight before, viewers copped an eyeful of Eamonn’s unplanned tumble on camera while pundit Charlie Rowley was having their say.

A massive bang off-screen had co-host Ellie blurting out: “Oh my gosh!”. Charlie, taken aback, dashed to help Ellie after the unexpected incident, but the seasoned anchor quickly reassured viewers with a calm: “I’m fine, I’m fine. Carry on, carry on.”

As they tried to carry on with the show, the producers abruptly cut to a six-minute ad break.

Eamonn has been battling health woes, enduring double hip replacement in 2016 and back surgery in 2022 for a persistent slipped disc issue.

A source spilled to MailOnline: “He was obviously a bit embarrassed about what happened the other day.

“He’s been in telly for yonks and nothing like this has ever cropped up before. He came away from it a bit battered and bruised but he’s on the upswing now.”

After the unexpected interruption, Eamonn bounced back on screen with his classic wit: “I’m still alive! They’re very wonky wheels on chairs we’ve got here, as a matter of fact we don’t really like the chairs here.”

This mishap comes just weeks after the beloved Irish presenter took a tumble in his loo, dealing himself the “sorest and most powerful” wallop to the head.
