The Wanted star Max George has admitted it’s been a “pretty rough time” after having a second heart operation.

The 36-year-old singer recently went into hospital again for a second heart op after having a pacemaker fitted in December. The pop star recently admitted he feared he would die due to his heart problems and even wrote a will before Christmas.

Max has kept fans updated on his hospital visits with regular posts on social media. On Monday (February 17), he took to Instagram with snaps from the hospital after his second op – including one of his surgery scar.

The first snap showed him lying in his hospital bed with headphones one, with wires and monitors attached to his body. In the second, he revealed a fresh scar on his chest after the second surgery.

Max wrote: “A few weeks ago I had to go back into hospital after having some physical symptoms in my chest. It turned out that one of the leads was placed too far into my heart.

“The second surgery took about 2 hours. Luckily, it was a success and they kindly let me listen to Oasis the whole time!” He added: “It’s been a setback, but it’s just one of those things.

“I’ve had a few complications the last couple of months but I’m having loads of tests to make sure everything is all good. It can take a few weeks / months for the inflammation of my heart to subside (myocarditis) but I’m sure I’ll be back on top form in no time! Thanks everyone for all your lovely messages and support through what’s been a pretty rough time. Means a lot.”

Mac was rushed to A&E in Manchester with suspected heart problems just before Christmas. It was his mum who took him to hospital, and the singer credits her with saving his life.

He was told he had a block in his heart and that a pacemaker needed to be fitted. The surgery had seemed to be a success but he began to feel a fluttering sensation in his chest that was getting worse.

The Strictly star was told the second op was essential but risked causing a bleed on his heart. He told The Sun: “I thought I was on the road to recovery but when I was told I needed a second operation I was nervous, as pulling the pacemaker wires out of the heart wall risks bleeding on the heart. I didn’t have a choice, though. I had to have it done.”

Doctors has also found lymph nodes on his lungs, which threatened his singing career as it could have meant he lost his voice. “”The doctor did warn me there is a small chance that I could lose my voice,” Max said.

“”That was pretty worrying, but I decided I needed to take the risk. The biopsy was pretty gnarly, it’s a camera with prongs on the end that goes down your throat. It was painful. The recovery was tough, I had chest pain and was coughing up blood for five days.”
