Phillip Schofield still hasn’t kicked vaping despite it leaving him ‘covered in blisters’

This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield has admitted he is in a “bad way” after turning to vaping in a bid to deal with the stress and anxiety of his affair going public

Former This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield has disclosed he’s suffering from painful blisters and calluses after turning to excessive vaping amid the turmoil of revealing his affair.

The TV personality confessed he’s in a dreadful state following his decision to come clean after years of deceiving his family, ITV bosses and his representative about his relationship with a younger ITV colleague.

In recent weeks, Phil, 61, has been splashed across front pages after his rift with Holly Willoughby came to light, before he dropped his explosive confession.

Having escaped the capital, the broadcaster has now opened up about the fallout from his “unwise” but “not illegal” relationship with a man he first encountered when the individual was just 15 years old.

He’s also provided an insight into his deteriorating physical condition after acknowledging his heavy reliance on vaping to cope with the pressure surrounding his controversy, reports the Mirror.

Speaking to The Sun, the host displayed a series of “blisters and calluses” whilst acknowledging: “I’ve been vaping, a lot.

“I didn’t realise until suddenly it hurt, but I’ve been sitting looking up at the sky or out of the window, just staring into space.

“I just sit on the sofa and stare. I realise by doing that, I’ve blistered both hands.”

Phillip continued: “I am in a very bad way. Mentally, utterly, utterly broken, I think when you’ve caused this damage, you can expect nothing, it’s my fault, I completely understand.”

The celebrity went on to reveal that lately he’s been struggling to maintain proper eating habits and there’s been “a lot of Southern Comfort”. He revealed that after fleeing the London drama to find solace in Cornwall with his 87 year old mother, his former agent at YMU rang him up to say the controversy surrounding Phillip was too intense and he would have to “will have to step down from This Morning.”

Despite rampant speculation on social media, Phillip dismissed allegations of grooming his younger lover, clarifying that their affair began five years after they initially met.

He asserted that the affair kicked off in 2017 following a “consensual moment” in his dressing room. He stated, “It was not a love affair, it was not a relationship, we were not boyfriends; we were mates.”

He added, “It wasn’t feelings (I was getting), it was more like mates: excitement.”

In a subsequent conversation with the BBC, Phillip confirmed that the man involved was approximately 20 or 21 when they embarked on a sexual relationship.

Attempting to shed light on the nature of their relationship when the former colleague was underage, Rajan asked, “Just be really clear, your relationship between when you met him when he was 15 and then when he was 18 was occasional direct messages… no pictures of each other sent to each other?”.

Schofield responded with a shake of his head.

When questioned if the messages had a flirtatious tone, the ex-TV presenter replied, “Just work-related, just career advice, career help.”

Schofield also concurred that there was “no sort of sexual forwardness” during that period, signified by another nod of his head.
