As the Super Bowl gets underway, Philadelphia radio stations have banned any plays of Taylor Swift’s tunes as she arrives in New Orleans to support Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs
With the Super Bowl LIX in full swing, it seems Taylor Swift has been given the cold shoulder by Philadelphia radio stations.
Swift, 35, has arrived at the New Orleans stadium to support Travis Kelce as the Philadelphia Eagles go head to head with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Philly station 94.5 PST is hitting the mute button on all things Taylor Swift before the big game. The station announced they’re ‘pressing pause on all things Taylor Swift,’ following a week of playful ad trolling between a Swiftie and a Philly ad agency.
Joe Hyer, 94.5 PST’s Brand Manager, aired his thoughts during Thursday morning’s Chris and the Crew Broadcast: “Taylor turned her back on us, so we kind of have to turn her back on her. In 2023 Taylor came to Lincoln Financial Field and called Philly home – even saying her lyrics in ‘Gold Rush’ [which refer to an “Eagles shirt”] were about the football team (and not the band). It kinda hurts that she’s turned her back on us.”
Meanwhile, a new trend is emerging showing fans might just be more into the pop icon than the NFL showdown itself. It turns out, die-hard followers are throwing Taylor Swift-themed Super Bowl parties, complete with costumes inspired by the music megastar.
And this year, some of Taylor Swift’s die-hard fans reckon she might just be the Kansas City Chiefs’ lucky charm, reports the Mirror US.
Georgia educator and all-round Swiftie, Stephanie Pearson, who’s throwing a Taylor-inspired shindig today, gushed to Yahoo.com: “I feel like when she was there she probably blessed the stadium,” before adding, “And maybe there’s some Taylor voodoo going on for a three-peat.”
Meanwhile, T-Swift has been getting chummy with the significant others of star quarterback Travis Kelce’s teammates, most notably Brittany Mahomes. The pair were first seen breaking bread pre-Kansas City Chiefs vs. New York Jets match-up. Later they were spotted taking in the sights at MetLife Stadium from the swanky comfort of a box.
Their camaraderie has only grown, with Swift introducing Brittany to some of her A-list pals in the Big Apple, including Selena Gomez, Sophie Turner, and Gigi Hadid. A blabbermouth spilled to People magazine, “They dined in a private room. Everyone had a blast. They all got along and were just laughing all night over drinks and delicious food.”
The source continued, “The two friends were then regularly seen together at NFL games and on October 13 they shared a hug at Arrowhead Stadium while cheering for their partners.”
