Patrick Schwarzenegger has gotten plenty of attention as a member of The White Lotus Season 3 cast, particularly due to his controversial scenes – but fans may not know he appeared in an Ariana Grande music video.
The offspring of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Patrick kicked off his acting career in the early noughties with small parts such as Todd Peterson in ‘The Staircase’, Golden Boy in ‘Gen V. ‘ and most recently, he’s shot to fame playing Saxon Ratliff in the third season of The White Lotus.
Before he became the talk of the town, he made an unexpected cameo over ten years ago in Ariana Grande’s music video for ‘Right There’ featuring Big Sean, which marked the beginning of her successful music career.
In a talk with TODAY.com, he reminisced about his stint in a music video being one of his first gigs. He played Romeo as part of a Romeo and Juliet narrative.
“That was one of the first things that I had done. I remember being so nervous,” he confessed to the interviewer, reports the Mirror.
In the video, he arrives at a ball with his mates, where he encounters Ariana, who serenades him from her balcony. In another scene, they both take a plunge into a pool, where they nearly lock lips while other guests are cutting shapes on the dance floor.
Ariana, donning a voluminous ballgown, is seen singing above synchronised swimmers when Patrick sneaks up behind her and playfully covers her eyes. She grins at him, leading him to kiss her hand.
The scene concludes with Ariana unfurling her fan, potentially concealing a shared kiss.
Patrick revealed that this was his first and only music video appearance. He reflected: “We had a really great time filming that. It’s awesome to see where her career has gone.”
Responding to a tweet from 2024, Patrick humorously claimed that his cameo in Ariana Grande’s music video was some of his “finest work”. This revelation left fans astounded, many of whom hadn’t recognised him.
One surprised fan posted: “That was him? ? ! Chi,” while another confessed: “Oh…I didn’t know this.”
A third user quipped: “‘Finest work’ is crazy when all he did was stand there and looked confused.”
Another fan reminisced: “Patrick Schwarzenegger’s cameo in Right There remains a fun and nostalgic moment from Ariana Grande’s early music era! ,” while another admitted: “Didn’t even realise he was in that video.”
The actor recently made headlines during the premiere episode of The White Lotus, where he appeared completely naked. The actor disclosed to Men’s Health that this wasn’t initially scripted, describing it as a “power move” from his free-spirited character.
Another scene that caused controversy was a scene with his on-screen brother Lochlan, played by Sam Nivola. He admitted that the scene itself was “uncomfortable”, but surprisingly described the experience of filming it as “fun”.
