The Chase fans gobsmacked as they recognise bombshell from rival ITV show

The Chase fans returned to our screens this afternoon for the latest instalment of the ITV quiz show.

Host Bradley Walsh welcomed four new contestants to the show today for the fourth episode of the week.

The cheeky presenter was eager to see them get through to the final with some money in-hand.

Anne “The Governess” Hegerty was in the hot seat tonight trying to prevent the hopefuls from going home with the cash prize.

John, Bill, Abbie and Sarah all took it in turns to take on the cash builder and later went head-to-head with The Governess in an intense round of general knowledge questions.

Former teacher turned author John was the first contestant to take on the ITV tough quiz this evening but failed to make it through to the final round.

Bill was up next and managed to win £3,000 in the cash builder round and managed to secure a place in the final chase.

Abbie was the third hopeful to take on Anne but fans were left gobsmacked when she discussed what she did for a living.

The visual arts animator told Bradley that she’s worked on “big Hollywood blockbusters” including Harry Potter.

ITV viewers quickly recognised Abbie from rival quiz show Tipping Point

ITV viewers quickly realised that Abbie had previously appeared on Tipping Point.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “How have Tipping Point contestants ended up on The Chase?”

Another added: “Just made the long walk over from Tipping Point. Why do I feel this won’t be any more enthralling today?

A third posted: “I’ve seen her on Tipping Point.”

Unfortunately, Abbie only managed to get two questions correctly in the cash builder round and failed to beat The Governess in the head to head round.

Sarah managed to make it through to the final chase alongside Billy with £6,000 in her pocket, making it a grand total of £9,000 in the kitty.

Unfortunately, quizzer Anne caught the duo in the final chase with and Sarah and Bill went home empty handed.

The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 9pm
