Kate Garraway ‘s fans have been sharing miraculous stories of coronavirus recovery, in an effort to lift her spirits amid her husband’s ongoing health battle.
Derek Draper was admitted to the hospital with coronavirus in March, and though he is no longer in a coma, he is still fighting for his life in the intensive care unit.
His internal organs were badly affected by his body’s battle with coronavirus, meaning he has a challenging recovery ahead.
After the 53-year-old star revealed Derek may never return to full health, Kate’s devoted fans have been rallying around her on social media.
Sharing heartwarming tales of recovery, several fans have urged Kate to remain positive about Derek’s condition.
One person retweeted a heartfelt statement shared by the son of a coronavirus sufferer, saying: “There is hope, so much hope.”
The original tweet read: “Nine weeks ago my 75-year-old Dad was rushed to hospital with Covid-19 The paramedics didn’t think he would make it to the hospital.
“Four weeks in a coma, three bleeds on the brain, two strokes and a blood clot on the heart later he finally walked back into his home. Never give up hope.”

Reaching out to Kate, the Twitter user who originally shared the story added: “There really is [hope]. There were several times when I thought he’s not going to make it. Every positive seemed to be met with two negatives but the staff or my dad never gave up.
“I’ve tried getting this to Kate but I don’t think she’s using Twitter at the moment.”
Sending their love to the Garraway family, a third user said: “Praying for your Derek, thinking of you and your family at this difficult time. Remember God only gives strong people a cross to bare [sic], stay positive, he’s gonna be fine, keep faith. Sending love.”
Hearing the news that Derek is no longer in a coma, another user wrote: “Glad to hear your Derek is out of a coma and non-Covid. More and more people are coming out of hospital.
“Sure they will be weak but that’s to be expected, be positive, fighting off Covid was amazing to do, he can do the rest. Miracles do happen.”
On Monday’s Loose Women, panellist Jane Moore confirmed Derek had been taken out of his induced coma, speaking on Kate’s behalf.

She said: “Derek contracted coronavirus, he went to hospital, it looked initially like he might have a Boris Johnson experience, and come out largely unscathed, but it’s attacked all his vital organs.
“He’s now Covid free, they’ve brought him out of the coma, they put him into an induced coma and brought him out of the coma, and he’s not regained consciousness yet.”
Jane added: “So every day she is living with this awful uncertainty, she’s now talking about maybe our normality is that they are never going to know if he will recover.”
Kate, who recently discussed Derek’s condition during an appearance on Good Morning Britain, explained that she has been trying to remain positive throughout her husband’s health battle.
Speaking to her colleagues, she explained: “He’s still with us and has fought the most extraordinary battle.
“Looking at the positives, he is now Covid free, so he is testing negative, so the fight with the virus has been won and he’s still here but it’s wreaked extraordinary damage on his body and we don’t know if he can recover from that.”
