Coleen Rooney 'staged Wagatha Christie to steal Rebekah Vardy's fame', says WAG

Coleen Rooney allegedly “staged” the Wagatha Christie drama in a bid to “steal” Rebekah Vardy’s “spotlight”, according to a fellow WAG.

Footballer Wayne Rooney’s wife sent the internet into meltdown last year when she publicly accused footballer Jamie Vardy’s wife’s Instagram account of leaking fake stories about her.

Coleen claimed she had done “detective work” and planted fake stories on her private Instagram account, which only friends and family could see.

The WAG detailed to the entire internet how she made sure only Rebekah’s account could see the stories and claimed that’s how she believes it was Rebekah selling stories about her.

Rebekah has heavily denied the claims, and said she hasn’t sold any stories on her former pal.

But now new theories have been brought to light after a fellow WAG has come forward to claim that Coleen “staged” the whole thing.

Former footballer Peter Shilton’s wife Stephanie has boldly claimed Coleen set up Rebekah to take the fall in a bid to knock her off her fame pedestal.

Stephanie, who is also known as the “granny WAG”, described Rebekah as a “target” for Coleen due to her success.

Sharing on her public Facebook page, she wrote: “[It was Coleen’s plan to] Knock the Vardy’s off the number one spotlight in particular Rebecca, I suspect the poor pregnant woman was a sitting target.

“They are both hugely popular in the industry and Rebecca was probably the most well-known modern WAG.

“My gut feeling when I saw Rebecca absolutely broken on her return when it all happened was as I said to Pete ‘OMG she’s innocent and has been set up all these incidents are a Rooney PR strategy to bolt them into the spotlight knocking others out of the way!’

“I was devastated for her especially as she was carrying a child. The penny dropped I suspect the poor girl was set up! Similar to how Pete nearly was! Anyway this is my theory as a granny wag… xxx.”

Stephanie went on to say: “I truly suspect that the Rooney’s and their PR team had a plan prior to Wayne’s return to the U.K. as his reputation was in tatters.

“I believe top of the list was to mastermind a charity England football match to knock Peter Shilton off being number one cap record holder, enabling Wayne Rooney to be number one cap holder after a 30 year record was held by my Husband!”

Daily Star Online has contacted Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy’s representatives for comment.
