EastEnders' Lacey Turner pregnant with 'miracle' child after miscarriage agony

EastEnders star Lacey Turner has announced she is expecting her second child with husband Matt Kay – a sibling to their one-year-old daughter Dusty.

Lacey, 32, is 16 weeks pregnant and she and Matt are due to welcome their new baby in February 2021.

The former Our Girl actress announced the exciting news in OK! magazine, saying: “We feel so lucky to be expecting our second baby, as it took so long to get Dusty.”

Lacey went through two miscarriage heartbreaks before her pregnancy with little Dusty, losing both pregnancies at seven weeks.

She underwent tests to see if there were any medical issues, and there weren’t, and there was a period of six months where the Stacey Slater star didn’t fall pregnant.

Her barber husband Matt, 32, said: “We didn’t know if it was going to take years again so it was an amazing surprise.”

Speaking of the bittersweet nature of pregnancy, Lacey said: “I don’t think pregnancy will ever be an exciting experience for me as I always have that worry in the back of my mind, but the further along I go in the pregnancy, the less I worry. Matt’s more positive than me.”

She went on: “I don’t think Matt thinks too deeply about things, whereas I’ll go straight to the worst possible scenario!”

The soap star confirmed that they aren’t finding out the baby’s sex as “there aren’t many surprises in life”.

She added: “I’d love Dusty to have a sister as I have sisters, but then I’d love her to have a brother as I didn’t have brothers.”

Lacey will finally make her return to EastEnders as Stacey this week, after the BBC soap came back to our screens following its pause in production.

Stacey will return to a shock though, when she discovers that her estranged husband Martin Fowler, played by James Bye, is in a relationship with her best mate Ruby Allen, played by Louise Lytton.

There is sure to be fireworks, however Lacey’s next break from the soap had already been revealed.

It will see Stacey make an explosive exit, though Lacey has “every intention” to return within a year.

An insider told the Daily Star: “She has always been a big hit with fans. There is no doubt they will really miss her while she’s off screen.”
