Liam Payne sends cute 'olive branch' to Zayn Malik as Gigi Hadid gives birth

Liam Payne has reached out to former One Direction star Zayn Malik to congratulate him on becoming a dad.

The Strip That Down superstar, 26, logged into his official Instagram account before live-streaming himself from the studio.

Speaking as thousands of fans watched on from around the world, Liam said: “Oh yeah, congratulations Zayn and Gigi.

“Very lovely news to have this morning – starting a family.”

Zayn, 27, became a dad for the first time this week after his model girlfriend Gigi Hadid, 25, gave birth to their daughter.

Posting an adorable snap on Instagram of him holding the tot’s hand, Zayn wrote: “Our baby girl is here, healthy and beautiful.

“To try put into words how I am feeling right now would be an impossible task.

“The love I feel for this tiny human is beyond my understanding. Grateful to know her, proud to call her mine, and thankful for the life we will have together.”

Liam became a father in March 2017 after his then-girlfriend Cheryl Tweedy gave birth to their son Bear Grey Payne.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star Online earlier this year, Liam admitted he understands why Zayn wouldn’t want to be part of any One Direction reunion.

Liam said: “Some people are made for this thing but Zayn enjoys the side of the music where he just gets to make music.

“I don’t think he enjoys what comes with it. I think he has to be very careful where he treads.

“He likes to make songs and his songs do very well but at the same time he doesn’t really like to go out and perform the songs.

“He doesn’t really like going out and doing the press stuff that surrounds it in the crazy little world that we live in.”

Zayn quit One Direction in March 2015 partway through the supergroup’s world tour.

At the time, the PillowTalk singer said he “wanted to be a normal 22-year-old,” however, since then he has spoken frankly about suffering from anxiety due to the pressures of life on the road in the biggest band on the planet.

Since walking away from the group it’s widely reported he is no longer in contact with his former bandmates.
