EastEnders fans raging over medical 'plot hole' in Chantelle's autopsy report

Albert Square residents said their final goodbye to Chantelle Atkins on Thursday as EastEnders aired her funeral.

Chantelle’s loved ones gathered to pay their respects to the popular hairdresser, none the wiser that she was murdered by her abusive husband Gary Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith) last month.

Gray was visited by a police detective this evening (October 8) with the news that they’d closed the investigation into Chantelle’s death by formally ruling that it was accidental.

The murderer demanded to know: “You think it’s accidental?! Can’t you see what’s in front of your eyes?”

The detective assumed he was trying to implicate Kheerat Panesar (Jaskiranjit Singh Deol) and offered to investigate any evidence, but Gray quietly explained he had nothing to pass along.

Viewers were left furious over the verdict of Chantelle’s death with some spotting a “blunder” in the autopsy report.

Taking to Twitter, one angry fan penned: “Chantelle’s death aftermath storyline has been poorly written. ‘Accidental death’ when bruises etc would still be visible? I’m sorry, I’m out now.”

Another raged: “Hang on? How was Chantelle’s body released for burial before the coroner confirmed her death was accidental?”

A third ranted: “Accidental death? Re-examine now.”

While a fourth posted: “Accidental death? Did they not find the bruises on Chantelle’s body?”

A fifth wrote: “Accidental death? What about all the broken bones?”

When it came time to leave for the funeral, scheming solicitor Gray chose to take a separate car from the rest of the family – and instructed the driver to take him to Walford Crown Court for his client Whitney Dean’s (Shona McGarty)hearing.

Instead of aiding in Whitney’s defence, Gray became belligerent when the court prosecutor described Leo’s death as a “Valentine’s Day massacre” where he was left “bleeding out on the floor”.

“Have much are they paying you, hmm? To defend that evil monster,” Gray taunted the prosecutor.

With both Whitney and Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) trying to quiet a furious Gray, the judge finally had no choice but to have the officers of the court escort Gray away.

Will Whitney have any chance of proving her innocence now?

The scheming solicitor’s decision to miss his wife’s funeral didn’t go down well with his mother-in-law Karen Taylor, as well as with viewers.

One fan tweeted: “Gray has gone to Whitney’s trial and not his wife’s funeral?! Cause that makes him like innocent, doesn’t it?

A second wrote: “Gray… Now you’ll be there for Whitney? AS YOUR WIFE IS BEING BURIED?”

While a third posted: “As if Gray missed Chantelle’s funeral for Whitney’s trial.”

A fourth wrote: Karen maybe you should wake up and smell the coffee that Gray is a bad man?
