Shelby Tribble and Sam Mucklow's baby name Abel and what it means

Former TOWIE star Shelby Tribble and her fiancé Sam Mucklow have revealed the sweet and unique name they have given their son.

Shelby and Sam welcomed their baby boy in to the world on November 15, and shared the name they had given him a few days later.

Sharing a picture of her newborn son, Shelby revealed they have named the “perfect” baby Abel Ashley.

She captioned the image: “Abel Ashley Mucklow. Born 15.11.20 weighing 7.3lb. Our perfect baby boy.”

The name Abel has religious connotations. He was the second son of Adam and Eve in the Old Testament – and was murdered by his jealous brother Cain.

It’s a very traditional name, which hasn’t reached the top of any “popular baby names” lists in recent times.

It saw a slight peak in 2015, but hasn’t ever reached the top of the popular names lists.

Abel is a Hebrew name which literally means “a breath”, and also means “capable, competent, ready and willing”.

Shelby had a rough time during pregnancy, and after the birth she was re-admitted to hospital with pre-eclampsia.

Taking to social media, she thanked her fans for the support: ”It’s so difficult for me to respond to everyone individually, it would take me too long to reply to you all. But just know I’ve read [them] and I am grateful for every single message sent to me.

“I’m not having an easy ride and still have to be monitored daily and I’m taking so many different medications and vitamins I could probably open my own pharmacy.”

She had high blood pressure, but reassured her fans on social media that her baby boy was “fine”.

Shelby explained: “Re-admitted into hospital after only just leaving and getting comfortable at home with daddy.

“F*** you pre-eclampsia (baby is fine just mummy’s blood pressure is not).”

Pre-eclampsia is a complication in pregnancy that is caused by high blood pressure, which can begin from around 20 weeks into pregnancy.

If untreated, pre-eclampsia can restrict the baby’s growth, or cause it to be delivered early.
