Big Brother star Heavy D's friend confirms star's death at age 47

Former Celebrity Big Brother contestant Heavy D has reportedly died, his friend has confirmed.

The reality star, real name Colin Newell, passed away this week.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, his pal Nick Nevern posted: “I’m very shocked & saddened to hear of the passing of my friend @HeavyHeavyd.

“U lived ur life the way u wanted to & f**k anyone who didn’t like it! U always brought a smile to my face bro & lifted any room you where in. #RIPHeavyD.”

No more details about his death were available at present.

The television personality continued to be active on social media up until almost two weeks ago and posted his last tweet on November 14.

Tributes have flooded social media following the shock announcement.

One emotional fan penned: “Omg no way such sad news to hear he was great guy he will never be forgotten.”

A second person said: “OMG! I was only thinking of him yesterday, he hasn’t posted anything up in a couple of weeks and was wondering if he was okay. R.I.P.”

While a third wrote: “What OMFG good friend of mine and a lovely fella, shot a little short film together.”

Another added: “That’s so sad, he was so full of life a few weeks ago, an amazing guy and a good friend.”

“Oh no! Please tell me that’s not true. He was one of the nicest guys I had ever met. He had so much banter. Such a terrible loss,” a fifth person posted.

Heavy D hot to fame after appearing as a main buyer on the UK version of Storage Hunters, which airs on the digital channel Dave.

He took part in the 18th series of Celebrity Big Brother in August 2016 alongside the likes of Stephen Bear, Samantha Fox, Marnie Simpson and Ricky Norwood.

He became the fourth housemate to fourth housemate to be evicted on Day 20.

Heavy D’s ex-girlfriend Bryony Harris gave birth to the former couple’s first child, a daughter, in September 2017.

The little bundle of joy is called Rory, and she was born ten days early.

The former couple were engaged but split on Christmas Day 2016 before briefly reuniting in February the following year.
