Good Morning Britain presenters Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid gave their co-star Kate Garraway an emotional tribute on the Christmas special of the ITV show.
As they shared a tribute to everyone affected by the coronavirus pandemic this year, they also gave an update and mention for their friend Kate.
Kate has been through a difficult year as her husband Derek fell ill with Covid back in March, and has been in hospital ever since.
He was placed in a medical coma to help his body recover, and since been taken out of it but at Kate’s last update, is still in a minimum state of consciousness.
Piers said: “To all of those who have lost loved ones this year, or whose loved ones are seriously ill.
“We’re thinking particularly about our colleague Kate, of course, who won’t be with Derek this Christmas, always a special time for the family.
“Our hearts go out to Kate and the kids today, it will be a very different Christmas obviously.
“We continue to hope and pray that Derek comes through what has been a tremendously difficult ordeal for him and his family.”

Susanna agreed: “Big hug to all of those affected.”
Kate had been hoping to see ill Derek in hospital on the festive day this year, and had also been hoping that Boris Johnson’s Tier 4 announcement for London wouldn’t affect her plans.
Co-star Charlotte Hawkins tweeted after the announcement: “Just when we thought this year couldn’t get any worse…. #christmasiscancelled.”

A concerned follower said in response: “I truly hope in all of this @kategarraway & her children gets to form a bubble and to see Derek. It’s hard for all of us, but harder for her as her situation is unique. Ella-Rose will keep you busy I’m sure.”
Kate responded: “I hope so too Fatimah – not quite clear at the moment but thank you for thinking of me and the others in the same situation xxx.”
The mum-of-two, who shares Darcey, 14, and Billy, 11, with Derek, also left an impassioned plea to Sky TV earlier this week after fearing she would be left with no television, and it would be the “final straw”.
She wrote: “Hi @skytv – I really hate to do this but can’t get through to anyone on phone for last 3 days- am sure you are frantic – but please can someone get in touch . We have no tv or WiFi for kids & me not having that in isolation over Xmas feels like final straw.”
GMB continues on Monday at 6am on ITV.
