BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty ignores co-host Charlie in awkward moment

BBC Breakfast rarely has any really awkward moments but with live TV there’s always the odd gaffe.

New business reporter Nina Warhurst accidentally forgot to address Charlie Stayt following her segment on the show today, prompting Naga to cheekily run with the moment and pretend to ignore her co-host.

Having delivered a report about the issues involved BT Openreach and fibre internet and how many homes it still needs to reach in the UK, Nina turned to the red sofa.

“They hope to reach 3.4 million more homes by March 2026. And the takeaway today Naga is….”

Realising her blunder, Nina suddenly added in: “And Charlie.”

But grinning with mischief, Naga turned away from her colleague and ignored him.

“You can just talk to me,” she declared.

“Sometimes it just feels that way, sorry Charlie…” Nina continued, clearly embarrassed as she turned red.

BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty enjoyed teasing her co-host Charlie on the show

“If you are in one of those 4 million households,” the reporter, who replaced Steph McGovern in the role, tried to continue, but she ended up doubling over in laughter as the moment got too awkward.

“You may be paying up to £2 a month more. But that will fund the roll-out in more rural areas,” she finished.

Still grinning as her co-host was sat behind her flabbergasted, Naga said: “Thanks Nina, it’s been really good talking to you.”

“Yeah nice to see you Naga,” Nina replied, and Naga said it had been really “nice”.

“Shall we catch up later as well?” the presenter teased, as Nina agreed.

Turning back to face the camera, Naga then pretended she’d only just noticed Charlie was sat next to her.

“Ok, alright…. oh hello! Hi Charlie,” she joked, and the BBC presenter asked with faux frostiness: “Nothing uncomfortable about that was there Nina?”
